Rustic Chicken and Dumplin's
Ingredients

Chicken, cut into pieces
1 teaspoon
Morton Nature’s Seasons
3 tablespoons
Butter
1 carton (32 ounce)
Low-sodium chicken broth
2 cups
Water
1/2 cup
Onion, minced
1 teaspoon
Poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon
Minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1 1/2 cups
Carrots, cut
1 1/2 cups
Celery, cut
1 1/4 cups
Flour
1 teaspoon
Baking powder
1
Egg
1/2 cup
Buttermilk, shaken
1/2 cup
Butter, chilled
Chopped parsley
For garnish
Instructions
STEP 1
Season chicken pieces with seasoning blend.
STEP 2
Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a Dutch oven, add chicken, and brown on skin sides.
STEP 3
Add broth and water; bring to boil. Add onion, seasoning, garlic, salt, and pepper; simmer.
STEP 4
Add carrots and celery, partially cover, and simmer until veggies are tender.
STEP 5
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Whisk egg with buttermilk in another bowl.
STEP 6
Cut chilled butter into dry mixture until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk mixture.
STEP 7
Chill dough for 30 minutes. Pat dough to 1-inch thickness, fold edges to center, and pat again.
STEP 8
Remove chicken, skim fat from broth, and bring to boil.
STEP 9
Cut dough into squares, drop into boiling broth, and simmer until done.
STEP 10
Return chicken to pot and simmer briefly. Serve with parsley garnish.
