Poppy Form Cake
Ingredients
1 can (12.5 oz)
Poppy seed cake & pastry filling
1 cup
Shortening or butter
1 1/2 cups
Sugar
4
Eggs, separated
1 tsp
Vanilla
1 cup
Sour cream
2 1/2 cups
Sifted flour
1 tsp
Baking soda
1 tsp
Salt
Instructions
STEP 1
Cream together shortening and sugar.,
STEP 2
Add poppy filling.,
STEP 3
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.,
STEP 4
Blend in vanilla and sour cream.,
STEP 5
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.,
STEP 6
Add sifted dry ingredients to poppy mixture, beating well.,
STEP 7
Fold in stiffly whipped egg whites.,
STEP 8
Pour into greased 9 or 10 inch tube or Bundt pan.,
STEP 9
Bake at 350°F about an hour and 15 minutes.,
STEP 10
Cool 5 minutes and remove from pan.,
STEP 11
Sprinkle with powdered sugar or cool and glaze.
