One-Bowl Chocolate Cake

Canola or vegetable oil, for greasing the pan

All-purpose flour

Sugar
1/2 cup
Unsweetened cocoa powder

Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon
Baking soda
1/2 teaspoon
Fine salt

Eggs
1/2 cup
Buttermilk or plain yogurt
1/4 cup
Canola or vegetable oil
1 teaspoon
Vanilla extract
1/2 cup
Hot tea or coffee

Bar bittersweet chocolate
1/2 cup
Heavy cream
Instructions

Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Add hot tea and whisk until smooth. Pour batter into pan.

Bake for about 45 minutes. Cool in pan on rack.

For frosting, combine chocolate and cream. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Microwave again for 15 seconds; stir until smooth.

If no microwave, use a double boiler to melt chocolate and cream.

Cool chocolate cream until thick enough to spread. Pour over the cake and swirl. Cut and serve.
