Healthy Big Mac
Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound
ground turkey
2 cloves
garlic, minced
1 teaspoon
onion powder
1 teaspoon
salt
1/2 teaspoon
black pepper
2
whole wheat burger buns
1/4 cup
non-fat Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon
mustard
1 teaspoon
apple cider vinegar
2 leaves
romaine lettuce
2 slices
tomato
2 slices
low-fat cheese
3 slices
pickles
1 cup
carrot sticks or baked sweet potato fries
Instructions
1
In a bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
2
Form the mixture into two evenly sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
3
Grill the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
4
While the patties are cooking, slice the whole wheat buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or a toaster.
5
In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, mustard, and vinegar to create a healthy sauce.
6
Once the patties are done, assemble the Big Mac by spreading the sauce on the bottom bun, adding a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, followed by the turkey patty.
7
Add a slice of low-fat cheese, pickles, and top with the upper bun. Repeat for the second burger, if desired.
8
Serve immediately with a side of carrot sticks or baked sweet potato fries.
