Creamy Caramelized Onion Pasta

Instructions
STEP 1
Boil salted water in a large pot.
STEP 2
Add pasta and cook until tender.
STEP 3
In a skillet, add butter and oil over high heat.
STEP 4
Add onions and cook until slightly colored.
STEP 5
Stir in sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar, and water.
STEP 6
Cook until onions are tender and brown.
STEP 7
Reduce heat; add milk, garlic, thyme, and cheese.

Blend until smooth with an immersion blender.
